Men's Shoes 2026: What we've seen so far

We are a little over halfway through 2026, and the year has already brought several interesting developments in men's footwear.

At ERRANT, we are in daily contact with our customers, while also closely monitoring market developments. This gives us good insight into which materials, models, and trends are becoming more prominent than before.

Here are the seven trends we have particularly noticed so far in 2026.

1. The loafer has become a permanent part of the wardrobe
We find that far more men view the loafer as a natural part of their shoe wardrobe and not just as a shoe for special occasions.

It is used for everything from the office to the weekend and fits naturally into a modern wardrobe where versatility is important. At the same time, we see many combining loafers and sneakers rather than choosing one over the other.

2. More conscious purchases are being made
We observe that more people are spending longer on their purchases.
Materials, production, comfort, and quality play a bigger role in the decision. At the same time, we find that more people are choosing classic designs that feel relevant season after season, rather than products that follow a short-lived trend.

3. Comfort has become a decisive factor
We observe that comfort plays a larger role in purchasing decisions than before.
Customers no longer expect to have to choose between comfort and design. Both must be in place, whether they choose sneakers, loafers, or boots.

4. Brown shades are becoming more prominent
Black and white remain classics, but we are seeing increasing interest in brown leather tones and suede.
The warm shades give a more relaxed look and fit naturally into a timeless wardrobe.

5. Timeless design is prioritized higher
We are seeing a clear shift away from fast trends.
More people are looking for classic silhouettes and designs that feel relevant season after season. This confirms to us that simple and well-thought-out design remains strong.

6. Materials play a larger role in purchasing decisions
We observe that more people are interested in the materials behind their shoes than we have seen previously.
Leather, suede, and the production behind the product play a larger role in discussions with our customers, and more people want to know more about the materials before making their choice.

7. The modern shoe wardrobe is becoming more versatile
One of the most interesting developments we are seeing is that customers are no longer looking for one shoe for everything.
Instead, more people are building a wardrobe with different types of shoes, each with its place. Sneakers remain an obvious choice for everyday wear, while loafers and boots are increasingly being chosen when the occasion or outfit calls for a more classic look.

Our summary
If we are to summarize the first half of 2026, the conclusion is clear: Men are buying more consciously than before. They prioritize quality, comfort, and timeless design, while also building a more versatile shoe wardrobe where different models each have their natural place.
